Lot 10 Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver

Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver, #36029, .44 cal., 8" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, brass trigger guard, one-piece walnut grips, silver front and fixed "V"-notch rear sight. Serial numbers are matching, including the barrel wedge. Civilian sub-inspectors cartouche "JT" (John Taylor) on the bottom left side grip panel. Small "C" on left side of the barrel, "L" on the right, both near the wedge. Small "D" stamped on underside of the barrel. Mfgd 1862. Revolver is in overall fine condition. Considerable amount of thinning and toning blue finish remains on the barrel, mixed with brown patina. Finish on the top half of the barrel was added later, over mild pinprick pitting and blemishes. Rebated cylinder retains small amount of finish in the protected areas and most of the cylinder scene remains visible. Case colors on the frame are vivid and approx. 90% remain. Brass trigger guard shows mild toning. Most of the finish has worn from center of the backstrap, leaving bluing and patina on the upper section and butt. Walnut grips with pleasing grain patterns, scattered moderate dents and handling marks, with clearly visible cartouche on the bottom left side. Action is crisp and functions smoothly. Bore is near fine with strong rifling and scattered light erosion. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (Antique)
